Anybody read the classic 2008 John Ringo novel "The Last Centurion" ?
With the exception of predicting a first-term President Hillary, it seems to be quite interesting in how close he came in the events of the 2019-2020 timeframe.
Chinese superflu spreads in a global pandemic? Yup.
Sunspot minumum causes global climate shift (cooler)? Yup.
Parts of cities in the USA declaring themselves as 'autonomous zones' ? You betcha!
He thought it would be in Detroit instead of Seattle, but other than that, he was very accurate.
Here's a little quote:
Somehow Kuwazi Jones, aka half a dozen names ending in Mullah Ali, former drug dealer, armed robber and rapist, had become the darling of the media and what was left of the tofu-eater set. He had "established order" in Detroit and was "working for the poor and oppressed peoples of color of the degenerate and oppressing" United States by bringing a "new order" of "equality and enlightenment."
He was, I'll admit, photogenic and charismatic. He was very good on camera. He was well-spoken and could deliver a good line. He knew all the liberal mantras to spout.
An excellent book, it goes right up there with his Live Free or Die novels.
One part that struck me was how accurately he assessed the difference in societal cohesion between rural and urban areas. He really struck it home with his comparison of how the vaccine/cure vials spoiled in a rail car in LA, I think it was, because the proper forms were lacking and there wasn’t anyone available who had proper state certification for administering vaccinations.
Yet in the rural Midwest, a sheriff grabbed some paramedics and said, you’re able to give shots right. Didn’t give a damn about paperwork. Just loaded up some ambulances and told them to get to work.
I could see that happening.
I’ve wondered if Establishment types have been resorting to fiction novels for their inpiration in attempting to seize control of America and the world.
Current events just seem to be filled with hollywood levels of insincerity.
Part of my library, read it again last month just to have something to read. The similarities were scary.
