WHO thought they could do WHAT wit impunity? Eh? Eh? This is the trickery implanted by "brain-washing"--reverse thinking. They have come to misunderstand that establishing legitimate dominance in a situation is that when one resists, the enforcer MUST escalate the force, perhaps even to the point of the death of the one resisting the enforcement of laws he is violating. Obstruction of the law and its administrator is itself breaking the law.

Who is it that has convinced them otherwise? The teacher or parent who is convinced that corporal punishment is a form of violence that will destroy a child's potential for a happy life? That it is wrong to break the child's will?

Carrying that into adulthood, what does that do to the individual's ability to accept discipline? to become conformed to the law established by the society?

Biblically:

"Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell" (Prov. 23:14 AV)

"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil" (Rom 13:31-4 AV).
The government's sworn law enforcer is a minister of God, authorized to take your life, if you qualify, without asking anyone else for permission.

He has the right and the power to exercise brute force, if he determines that the situation demands it. And if he does it justly, it's OK with the Mighty God.

It is wise to dread displeasing or disobeying this minister of God, is it not?
