And yet here in NYC chess clubs and chess teams are common in schools in black neighborhoods. The kids and their coaches have been lauded on the local news. Adult and senior blacks are often seen in the late spring and summer playing chess in parks throughout the city. Now suddenly it’s racist. Not in his wildest dreams did Mao think this could happen in America.

I watched Endgame, a movie about how a Brownsville, TX teacher taught and developed a winning school chess team. It grew into clubs at all the Brownsville school and they’ve won multiple tournaments since it was first implemented. The movie was good.
