They say that the pejorative comes from Mexico because they aren’t fully Mexican. They have indigenous and American ancestory.
Yeah I think that’s an accurate assessment of that word.
Like a Mexican family who can’t speak Spanish living in some L.A. barrio = Chicano.
I always picture George Lopez being a stereotypical chicano.
