Daily Coronavirus deaths for June 19 dropped to 267, the lowest since March 23. Yeah, I know the Sunday stats are the lowest of the week but if you look at the graph below, you see a steady average progression downwards.
Deaths are going to lag cases by a few weeks. I wouldnt be surprised to have an uptick in deaths in the coming weeks.
Good post—I was very worried about CV in the early days, but the doctors and nurses have gone down a learning curve and are now much better at managing the illness and preventing death (using a wide variety of meds and other techniques).
It is now a much lower risk than it was three months ago.

I live in a spilling zone, the governor has indicated that we are mass testing jails, skilled nursing and everyone who want a test gets one. We are probably picking up late positives that are long cleared. Despite the severe increase in cases there are no increase (in fact decrease!) in hospital and ICU admissions
Given that the mean incubation time is 5.1 days, mean time to ICU is 6.8 days, I would expect that if there were going to be a bump in deaths in a week, we would have them in the hospital — we do not.

We all knew the number of new cases would go up after all the riots and protests with thousands of marching and yelling and fighting. Then they go home and spread it to people there. One of the purposes of the protests and riots. But MSM never mentions it.

Most vulnerable already had died of covid-19. Now mostly young people are getting it.

Certainly a downward trend. But hospitals don’t all report on Sunday. Especially Father’s Day.
I quit commenting on COVID threads after Jim told me to put a sock in it, after a pretty benign post. Anyone else I would ignore, but it's Jim's forum and I respect what he's done here. If Jim wants a one sided view, he gets a one sided view.

To control for the number of tests, watch the % of tests that are positive, not just the number of cases.
In the same time span - 7 weeks - cases reported have gone from 450-ish/day to 2,000/day. Yep, a dramatic increase in CASES over the last 7 weeks, while deaths are DOWN.
