Syracuse police have many video cameras on lamp posts in that area.

The WCNY studios are right next to a low-income housing community that covers six or seven square blocks.

I assume there are other video cameras in the area. The “square” they are referring to is (I’m making an educated guess here) a grassy strip immediately North of the WCNY studios, on the other side of W. Fayette Street from the studio parking lot. It is bounded on the north by some train tracks, and on the West by a parking lot that is fenced in and access controlled.

I often drive through that area, but have been avoiding it since the riots.

Fortunately, Syracuse’s downtown area is not all that big.

The police dept headquarters is right on State St, just about smack in the middle of any area I would prefer to avoid. It’s very strategically located.
