What a cluster. I’m pretty pissed at Trump about this, knowing how important SDNY is, why in hell did they let this happen?

He was not nominated by a president or confirmed by the Senate. Because of that, the question of who actually holds the authority to remove him — as Attorney General William Barr sought to do late Friday night — is not entirely clear.
Berman was appointed as interim U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York in 2018 by then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions following a purge of federal prosecutors in the early days of the Trump administration.
When the interim term of 120 days lapsed without a formal nomination by the president, the judges in the New York district exercised their authority to make Berman’s appointment official, at least until another candidate is nominated and confirmed.
Berman is now leaning heavily on that rarely invoked provision to maintain control over the Justice Department’s most prestigious office outside of Washington, D.C.”
Even if they thought Berman was OK at the time, considering the importance of THIS office, why would anyone fail to make the appointment and thus avoid any possibility of the current sh!tstorm?
I have to chalk up the inexplicable as reaching in a box of grab bags, each containing a different Purpose.
The one I *try* to pick contains *EXPOSURE*.
Berman proves to be uncooperative and an ass.
Who knows, it may be a subtle jab at Sessions to link him to one more consequential “mistake”.
Trump can be pretty cool and strategic when launching some trouble for someone and sending it their way for a timely arrival during an Alabama US Senate election.

Trump is moving chess pieces to get Berman out. After that happens we may see what is in Carlos Danger’s laptop.
