I heard on the radio it was the statue of Albert Pike, confederate general, 33rd degree Freemason, a founder of the KKK.
Pike was quite a major figure in American history ... and in NWO history if one is so inclined.

Thomas Sowell - a national treasure
Today, fortunately, there is three paragraphs that are the exact same in that article you linked.
Well, I would have voted to take it down, but do not support vandals. As far as the Congressional Statues—They should start with Robert Byrd, and VOTE on statues to remain —roll call vote.
Now this is very interesting since Albert Pike was a VERY key figure of Freemasonry. He was, in fact, the author of ‘Morals and Dogma’ and many other related works. Anyone who has studied the subject knows the importance of this. I need to ponder the significance. I say this because there are many in the BLM that are very opposed to the NWO and understand the connection. They are on our side but don’t yet know it. Anyone got a problem with that, too bad.
We were angry watching the idiots tearing down a statue in our nation’s capital (imagine if you or I did such a thing), but after realizing it was Albert Pike, I wondered if there was something else going on...
