All I remember about the Reagan years was that was the last time I took any polls seriously!
Pollsters are media guys.
The media do not even acknowledge Republicans exist.
In primaries and in local & state elections, viewers are led to believe only Democrats are running.
Pay close attention. Names of Republican candidates, dates of upcoming Republican primaries aren’t even mentioned.
Democrat candidates & primaries OTOH get a relentless media blitz.
Pollsters likewise frame all questions as Democrat-centric-— as positives; Repubs are either not mentioned at all, or are framed as being *against* progress, human rights, & minorities.
Right. But at that point the hostage crisis was actually helping Carter. It helped him hold off Kennedy’s challenge for the nomination.
