In her book The House on Diamond Hill: A Cherokee Plantation Story, Tiya Miles tells the intriguing story of The Chief Vann House, located on a vast plantation in northeast Georgia. It was named Diamond Hill in 1801 by its owner James Vann, the wealthiest and reportedly cruelest of Cherokee slave owners,
They called him “The Chief”, didn’t they?
Found online:
Parish was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003. In 1996, Parish was also named as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. His nickname was The Chief, after the fictitious Chief Bromden, a silent, giant Native American character in the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. According to Parish, former Celtics forward Cedric Maxwell gave him this nickname because of his stoic nature.
The story does show the hypocrisy of the Cherokee.
Story is from 2011.
Well, like yeah,......that is why his nickname was Chief. Some reports indicate he got the name from the character in One Flew Over The Cookoos Nest.
Thanks.

Bill of Rights does not apply to Indian Tribes
Bill of Rights says what the government cannot do. It only applies to the government. It does not apply to Indians, nor whites nor Blacks, nor Martians.

"Schwartzes!"
I was working at a small tribal village. On all the public buildings they had a list of names of people banished from the tribe. Newer listings also had a post with the person’s photo and detailed explanation.
It seemed that most of the offenses were fairly minor, but repeated offenses. A good way to get rid of the chronic disorderly drunks and what have you. I’m guessing the more serious crimes were dealt with in prison or jail. I have no idea what happens if an Indian commits a serious crime on the reservation.
This purge was over who would share in casino proceeds. Who could benefit from their housing, school etc. I dont know what pedigree was needed to qualify.
They wouldn’t let Elizabeth Warren be a tribal citizen either.
Racist Indians!
