And once there is an endless supply of precious metals, guess what those will be worth? Basic economics.

Look up Jevon’s Paradox which originally concerned the cost of mining coal and then using that coal for industrial purposes. Due to the high costs associated with coal, it was initially limited in possible applications by the return on investment. Improved technology changed that consideration.

Lowering the cost of resources always leads to a greater range of applications for the resource. The market to absorb production of a resource will grow when the price drops.

So you failed both History and Economics?

Columbus was specifically searching for an alternate trade route to Asia/India because the land route was cut off by Muslims.

You're imagining all of those resources are available in space and sufficiently accessible to support habitation and manufacturing.

They are NOT!

That’s not a very clever way to admit that your logic and reason failed.

Earth’s gravity well is deep. Once you are out of it getting to and from anywhere inside Jupiter’s orbit is low delta V as long as you can take the slowboat of elliptical orbits. The asteroid belt is Prime for metals and water plus carbon three things you need to build and sustain space presence. It takes significantly less energy and thus fuel to bring material into near earth space than to come from ground level up. It even takes less energy to come from Mars to low earth orbit via thruster braking not aerocapture than from ground to low earth orbit. That’s how deep earth’s gravity well is. Pinned metals can be extracted at the L1,2,3 points and just pushed into a entry elliptical orbit wherever doesn’t burn off on reentry that splashes down in the ocean can be recovered for sale. No terrorists needed the atmosphere does the deorbit and braking to supersonic splash down. Solid metals will survive such a trip by mass and ablation alone.

Terrorists ha autocorrect, no retrorockets needed any dense enough with a orbit that crosses inside 200I’m at its low point will reenter since the Pacific Ocean is huge it makes a great target for that entry corridor.

I suggest this location for supersonic splash down.

9°32'58.2"N 112°53'29.9"E
