My wife was definitely positive with life-threatening symptoms while I never experienced anything near to what she had. As infectious as this is, there is no way I didn’t have it, as I had near-constant exposure to her while taking care of her. She suffers from asthma though, so that probably had a big impact on the severity of her symptoms. She had to go to ER while I just experienced weakness/fatigue But that could have also been from sleep deprivation and stress. But she was a counted case while I was never tested.

Apples and oranges. It IS getting worse in places like South America and some parts of Asia. That tips the worldwide numbers higher. Investors don’t really care about that, though, since the pandemic is subsiding in the US, Europe and China. Further, the course of this pandemic has shown that after 60 days or so, it will subside in those areas too. There’s just not the level of panic in the market that there was back in a March.

I am very glad to here that you and your wife are now OK. Obviously you were exposed and infected; you like most people had mild symptoms.

That is the way that it worked around here as well... up until recently people could not get tested unless they met very specific criteria... Even people such as your wife who was seriously ill were typically not tested early on because of the shortage of tests.

Now that we are past the crisis, anyone who wants to be tested can get a test for free, and if it comes back positive you are counted as a new active case. The increased testing availability is being used to give the false impression that the dreaded “seconded wave” is at hand and that there is some justification for extending the asinine economy killing restrictions. The statistics on Covid-19 continue to be manipulated in ways meant to keep the public alarmed.

My wife and I both were paid and volunteered at the Kirkland Life Care Center for years, the first place in the country to have deaths associated with Covid-19. The employees and most the patients were not able to be tested early on. Those tests had to be conserved for celebrities and politicians and not wasted on the little people.
