I'm not an arachnologist but I think that the first thing I'd do is make sure the horn isn't some form of venom delivery system.

I’m gonna guess:
if it’s a female tarantula, it might be for the male to rest on when they make woopie
if it’s a male tarantula, it might be a decoy for the female to eat so the male can break away and escape
it it’s on both, it could be a decoy for the tarantula wasp to lay it’s eggs in, but when the eggs hatch, there’s nothing to eat since they’re not inside the body, so they starve and the tarantula survives
