I read the whole obit.

Caldwell served a term for drug dealing starting in 2014.

He was due for sentencing in about a month on a conviction for health care fraud.

Not exactly a model citizen.

But typical of the National Felons League.

And to think that back in the 1950s, the bad boy of football was Detroit Lions QB Bobby Layne, who was known to have a couple of nips at halftime.

The NFL doesn’t have any problem that couldn’t be solved by purging the felons and bringing in some motivated young athletes — even if those players suffer from the unforgivable taint of being WHITE.

Let’s see if that limp-wristed commissioner says anything or if he, like many others, will wait to see who did the shooting to form an opinion.

1) History of drug use and dealing.

2) Assassins laying in wait in the shrubbery next to his front door.

I don’t want to tell Tampa investigators their business, but golly could there be ... some sort of CONNECTION?

“And to think that back in the 1950s, the bad boy of football was Detroit Lions QB Bobby Layne, who was known to have a couple of nips at halftime.”

Alex Karras was suspended for the 1963 season for not selling his interest in his restaurant. The league was having a hissy fit because Detroit mobsters were eating and drinking at the restaurant.
Karras and Paul Hornung were both suspended by the league for gambling.
Both had to admit to gambling for a chance to return in 1964.

The hypocrisy of the NFL has always amazed me.
The league demands that teams submit an injury list every week listing which players are probable, possible or out. The reason for that is so Vegas knows how to set the betting line. If a player listed with a designation less than possible gets in the game the team can face huge fines.
