Former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic has praised Donald Trump for the law and order speech he gave on 1 June in response to protests sparked by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.
Speaking in the White House rose garden, Trump said he was dispatching thousands and thousands of heavily armed soldiers, military personnel, and law enforcement officers to stop the rioting, looting, vandalism, assaults, and the wanton destruction of property.
In a post on Facebook, Novoselic wrote: Wow!!! I know many of you cant stand......

Expect an apology in 3..2..1....
He has already locked down his account.
Got to batten the hatches at times when you think for yourself. Still, he DID say it!
Wow!!! I know many of you cant stand him, however, Trump knocked it out of the park with this speech.
I agree, the president should not be sending troops into states and he legally might not be able to anyway nevertheless, the tone in this speech is strong and direct.
the violence appears as a leftist insurrection
If this were the case, left-wing people would welcome federal intervention. Most Americans want peace in their communities and President Trump spoke to this desire. Never mind the legal details that few understand Trump said he would stop the violence and this speaks to many.
As an avowed independent, I dont endorse a major party or candidate. And it feels insane to have to say this , but I dont support fascism, and I dont support an authoritarian state. I believe in a civilised society and that we all have to work toward that.
Novoselic describes himself as an anarcho-capitalist socialist moderate I-dont know. He has campaigned for political reform. In the 2016 election, he supported Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson.
I missed one quote:
Imagine if so called patriot militias were raising this kind of hell?
“If this were the case, left-wing people would welcome federal intervention”
I’m like three degrees of separation from the Beatles via this guy.
I played with people who played with this guy who played with
McCartney.
“despite a lack of clarity about the left-wing antifascist group antifas involvement with the protests”
The Red Star Guardian is still playing dumb.
Still playing Hillary’s “it was a protest about a viral video that got out of hand and wasn’t a planned terrorist attack”
Anti-Trumper Dave Grohl is deeply pissed.
See its not directed at protesters.
Shirley Temple’s daughter Lori Black met the Beatles with her mom and played in the Melvins. She was photographed with the Beatles and later Nirvana.
Somewhere, pigs are flying, but as another poster suggested, the apology probably will soon be out there.
Of course..speaking “Your truth” only works if you praise commies, if you praise Republicans you are told to drop dead
The thing is, he’s right.
It was almost an immediate de-escalation of the scale of the looting and arson from Sunday night compared to Monday night.
No doubt, speaking of which are probably pissed too.
Funny how that works. Very few of ‘the woke’ allow themselves to see the hypocrisy. They just chant the party line all the more loudly.
I love The Pick Of Destiny and his Probot project, but outside of that David Grohl can f***k off for being a douchebag.
Exactly!
He's an outspoken proponent of Murray Rothbard and anarcho-capitalism in general. He's also one of the least outspoken of the original Nirvana crew, so this is a huge thing for him to say.
I've read some anecdotal accounts of Dave Grohl also tilting to the right without ever actually coming out and saying it. I'm all for celebrities advocating as long as they do it without compromising the integrity of their craft. Celebrities become outspoken to the point that I just won't bother to see them on the screen. I've done the same with certain bands despite growing up with them and loving their music.
ping
I know one of the Nirvana band members went on to be in Special Forces. Did 10 years or something like that, and multiple tours in Afghanistan. Wonder if this is him.
