I doubt that the Civil Rights movement of the mid-20th century would have been successful at all, without the substantial support of White America.
The ‘something different’ is that those people - both Black AND White - were not burning, looting and causing mayhem.
(MLK may have had his faults as an individual man, but he also did a lot of good work.)
