What an amazing duo Unsel and Elvin Hayes.

He probably died after watching his hometown Louisville, KY get taken over by looters. If Wes was the mayor of Louisville, he would have kicked ass. RIP. Great player. Great man.

He was a Washington Bullets legend - not a Wizard. That was an awesome series in 1978. I was a Celtics fan but loved watching Dennis Johnson play for Seattle. It was great when he joined Boston and added two more titles to the 1979 title he earned with Seattle.

He was a great one - and that was a good Bullets team, back when the NBA was fun to watch.

Unseld battling Dave Cowens, battling Willis Reed, battling Bob Lanier....

Man, those were good sports days.

After a Buffalo Braves (remember them?)-Washington Bullets game in the 70's, I was trying to get some autographs. Unseld came out of the locker room, don't remember if he signed or not, but I took note of the fact that he had thighs that would make Earl Campbell envious. Absolute tree trunks. RIP.

When I was stationed at MCRD San Diego in 1970-71 I went to many NBA games on cheap Special Services tickets. That truly was the golden age of the NBA. Those players were authentic legends of the sport.

Another player from the GLORY DAYS of the NBA past. Prayers to his family.

When I came home from college for spring break in 1969, I had to pass through Penn Station, so I stopped at MSG box office (my Dad was a huge Knicks fan) to see if there was any availability for the playoffs.

I scored 2 second row behind the baseline for the Knicks-Bullets game that very night, and I treated my Dad.

We usually sat in the cheap seats. I could not believe how huge the players were! And how much Wes Unseld sweat landed on us after collisions and rebounds.

RIP Mr. Unseld.
