The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

The false positive rate was 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's or one old fart’s life, it's worth it.

That sort of thing has been done before. For example a French health minister knew that the part of the blood supply for components against hemophilia was tainted with HIV, so he concealed the fact so that every hemophiliac in France was infected and died.

Several left wing leaders internationally and within the US are all in favor of “culling the elderly”, first trying to say only the ‘terminally ill’, then finally equating “elderly” with “terminally ill.”

The eugenics bandwagon is always a slippery slope to all sorts of evils: exterminating the handicapped and mentally deficient, and/or the elderly, and/or hated minorities. Be it in the form of abortion or forced sterilization or euthanasia, or just outright murder. Such people do not have God or a moral code to tell them it is wrong.
