You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

Solution to our last puzzle. Simply scroll your cursor over the text while left clicking your mouse, and the words should appear.

I didn’t find it easy. Had to resort to HAL’s to solve it.

Common letter, short words, third word, and then the rest.

Really? The first two words should be apparent by inspection.

That’s why it’s called “the sweet science”.

Took about 3 min. for me. Got first 2 words then played around and got author’s name. Rest of words were then solved.

One of those quick little puzzles where you start with the first word then go over here than back there then here and there and it opens up like a ripe cherry.

Great at his profession, didn’t reserve ALL his talents to the Square Circle.

Today would be OPENLY ostracized.

Met him more than a few times (Did a major project at his palatial estate) and never suspected nor saw the ‘dark side’.

He did fare better than most, still has some money long after the flame went out...20 year career....

Stumped this AM
Then, played around with first word, went back to educated guess on word two, then saw the author name!

Well, I am still struggling. I find it interesting that the third word is embedded in the fourth word. But I am still clueless.

I hit on the first two words quickly. It flowed from there. I like the consecutive ABCADE words.
