I grew up in LA county. We knew our neighbors well. Probably the best neighbors we ever had. They were Koreans who had come here from Seoul with very little to their names and, by 1992, owned an entire block of Koreatown in LA. They loved their adopted country. I recently saw a photo of rooftop Koreans from the ‘92 LA riots and I can’t be sure because I haven’t seen them for so long, but I felt fairly sure the eldest son of our neighbors was in it.
