When the posts get ugly it’s best to remind yourself that some people are simply quick on the draw, some are intoxicated, and some are feeling poorly for health reasons. Plus the tone of the poster may not be as hostile in their own mind as it reads in plain text.
There is wisdom. Great contribution.
Very good advice Ben.
Very good advice....especially the cocktail/posting part ; )
I got flamed a few days ago. Instead of responding in kind I just congratulated the guy on being that deep into his Memorial Day booze supplies. I must have been right - he went away.
That is good advice. Sometimes, I see threads and think “Nah. I won’t even go it, because nothing good ever happens in there.”
You have to pace yourself and pick your spots, no doubt. In all my time here, I have had two major run-ins, and I did not enjoy them at all.
(I don’t call my last exchange with Willie Green a major run-in, because it wasn’t for me, but I think he had a lot of people taking a run at him at that time.)
Plus the tone of the poster may not be as hostile in their own mind as it reads in plain text.

True...
I have a sardonic/sarcastic (in a nice way) personality and a lot of my ‘conversation’ depends on body language, eye rolls, etc etc..
The ONLY thing that comes out here is the words and something (as you say) said in jest can be taken as hostile if the person reading it isn’t on the same page.
I suppose a self correction is available BUT I am far to old to ‘redo’ my charming (or not so) personality...<: <: <:
