I once posted the epithet “Newbie” to a FReeper who was blessed with a late ‘90s born-on date. It took like five apologetic follow-up posts before he/she calmed down. I was trying to be funny; he/she didn’t see it that way . . .
I restrict my use of newbie to people that have been aboard less than 6 months after me. 6/98
I haven’t HAD to do it recently BUT I can just ‘see’ the smoke pouring from the ears and eyebrows when someone who joined in 7/98 is called a newbie and figure what kind of profanity etc is being readied...
