At about 2:34 p.m., the plane slammed onto the runway. Its engines left a series of black smudge marks, starting at 4,500 feet

This defies logic. They came in high hot and heavy, used up almost half the runway before impacting with no landing gear down, skidded down the runway and then became airborne again before the turbines, failed due to damage. Ever bell and whistle should have been going off in the cockpit on the original approach. Hell, even my simple glider will not let me land without the gear down. If I deploy air brakes without the gear down I get a buzzer sounding off.

I am confused.

ps
When I worked in the Middle East Oil Fields but not in Pakistan my friends that did always said, do not fly PIA. That was back in the late 70s.

The audio warning should have been screaming about gear and altitude and speed. Going in at 325kts for landing is insane. My Airbus goes in at around 135kts.
