Mainland Communist China has had the notion of repatriating all those Nationalists, also now a democratic republic known as Taiwan, since the time of The Quemoy Conflict between those two parties in the 1950’s.This is the neighborhood dog fight to be.

Taiwan has had seventy years to plan for a possible invasion. Something tells me that even if the PRC conquered Taiwan it would suffer terribly. But then, what’s a few million Chinese more or less.

Well the whole clampdown and protest in Hong Kong came out of a murder case that happened in Taiwan. A Hong Kong dude and his wife went on a vacay to Taiwan-— and he clearly killed here there and returned to Hong Kong without her. There being no extradition between Taiwan and Hong Kong— the chi-com overlords who basically have full veto power on the HK “legislature” passed a law that they could seized Taiwanese, relatives and in the process all protestors in HK— and bring them for “justice” in mainland chi-com land.

Violating the 50 year treaty the chicoms signed with the Brits to allow increasing democracy and freedom (which would be until 2043- but of course the chi-coms dont give a shite about freedom). Lot’s of videos on their “museums” in Hong Kong— total propaganda and lies.

As for Hong Kong— the chi-coms position is that there is Hong Kong and China (two chinas- one Peoples Republic commie china ruling over all— and want to force Taiwan the same). Sort of like Lord of the Rings— One chi-com Ring to Rule them All.

See if I can pull up the income data specifically and truthful from the web. The chic0ms don’t get that taking it over will reduce their revenue (but it will increase their criminal control— which is their main goal. A worthless goal cause they just don’t get it).

A blockade wouldn’t work when submarines start picking off the blockading vessels. China would have to take Taiwan by storm. A sudden thrust. Anything less than that invites intervention.

The Taiwan Strait is nicknamed the “Black Ditch,” High winds, rough seas, 3-6 Typhoons a year, over 100 miles from the mainland. Very tough for CCP to take it back with a conventional invasion. Now a blockade? That could be a very big deal. Would the US do anything about it other than some sanctions and finger-wagging? Probably not, especially not if Biden and gang get into the WH.

China’s bizarre behavior overlooks the weakness of their air and naval forces. Their army has massive numbers on the ground that creates a quality of its own, however they are weak logistically if operating beyond their own borders.

Unless they are banking on logistics supply chain via UPS, FEDEX and USPS like their Amazon partners, their out of border projection will sputter to a halt quickly.

If the PLAN really expects to challenge the USN with these carriers, they should buy a couple of glass bottom boats to inspect their fleet.

Doubt that an invasion is imminent And then there is this —

“This month the United States Navy’s Pacific Fleet submarine force announced that all of its forward-deployed submarines were simultaneously conducting “contingency response operations” in the Western Pacific in support of the Pentagon’s “free and open Indo-Pacific” policy.”

Chicom carrier vs. Virginia Class attack submarines = a greatly diminished Chinese Navy and a lot of wet Chinese sailors.

That assumes the US would go to war, Taiwan has 2 (two) submarines. Though a couple more planned.

Remember the Chinese Communists also plan on blocking and controlling all shipping crossing the West Philippines Sea with their fake island naval bases. That will cut off all trade going to the US from SE Asia, Australia, India and the Middle East. Lucky Malaysia cancelled a huge Chinese Communist development that could have closed off the Singapore Strait between Malaysia/ Singapore and Batam, Indonesia

SSN targets. Remember the USN has plenty of experience sinking carriers. The PLAN has no experience defending them. Dead meat.>

GMTA. I saw the title of the post and immediately thought to myself "I hope we have subs in the area."

A few million are more valuable than they used to be. China's male population aged 20-29 has been falling off a cliff because of their one child policy:

2015: 117 million men 20-29

2020: 98 million men 20-29

2025: 90 million men 20-29

They have begun to address their logistics problem in recent years.

Another clear sign of their intentions, but they have a long way to go on the water and in the air. They are really not even a near-competitor in either area despite what we hear and read.

Trump is going to have a difficult 5 years in navigating the China problem. However, thanks to his own actions and the ill-advised temperament of China after they unleashed this virus on the west he is in a stronger position when it comes to rallying world leaders.

This is potentially a dangerous situation. The Obama administration largely ignored China and it won’t play well for Biden in November given his past statements, the deal with Hunter, and his apparent lack of understanding.

They key ally for the US to watch is Abe in Japan. Japan is very concerned about China and they are increasing their defense spending appropriately.

The weather in the Taiwan Strait being as bad as you point out would make a blockade difficult to maintain except by aircraft (daylight) and submarine. Great for sinking ships, but ill-suited to warning a ship to turn around or prepare to be boarded for inspection. And if one or 2 of the PLAN submarines fail to “check-in”? What then?
