The New York Times was butchered on social media after an op-ed published on Thursday found a potential silver lining from the coronavirus outbreak: a meatless society.
In a piece titled The End of Meat Is Here, writer Jonathan Safran Foer argues, If you care about the working poor, about racial justice, and about climate change, you have to stop eating animals, hoping that the disruption of the meat supply chain will encourage people to give up meat altogether. While vegetarians celebrated Foers meatless plea, passionate carnivores slaughtered the Times op-ed on social media.
Cmon; I already recycle, Washington Examiner executive editor Seth Mandel reacted.
FFS. Nope. I love how everyone uses the virus to justify their prior beliefs, conservative commentator Erick Erickson dismissed the piece.
My filet mignon says youre wrong, filmmaker Robby Starbuck told the Times.

The very same people with bizarre-colored hair shrieking about others’ values being forced onto them, forcing their values onto everyone else.
Years ago a cattle rancher told me that at any given time there is only about two weeks of fresh meat in the supermarkets. Don’t know if that still is true today. ...but if the slaughter houses close or reduce production, things become interesting. ...real quick.
I’m ranch raised and we still kill and consume a big steer and three hogs every 10 months.
Meat is not gone their minds are gone.
This is just more liberal BS that needs to be hosed out of their ears with a fire-hose.
There are hundreds, if not thousands of small processors in most states that are not USDA certified and can only butcher and sell intrastate or custom process by treaty sale (where the buyer buys directly from the producer and hires the processor separately as a service).
They can pick up a lot of slack if unshackled by the USDA regs by executive order.
They have been at this for 50 years, using a revolving door of reasons.
It’s like population control. First they argued for it based on eugenics (1910 - 1940s) and when Hitler made that their eugenics “science” unpopular, they switched to overpopulation (1950s to 1980s) then when the promised mass famines failed to materialize they switched to climate change (1980s to present). When climate change is finally disproven, there will be a new reason for population control.
The working poor are cooking my hamburger, thanks. And since when are cattle a race?
If you care about the working poor, about racial justice, and about climate change, you have to stop eating animals,
Satire?

It would be nice if that deregulation would happen. Theres way too much of a monopoly now in that industry.
The working poor want to eat meat, too!
Yup!
The crazy thing is that meat substitutes have never been better tasting than they are now, but the small companies that are fighting for market share are going to choke each other out by trying to out-virtue each other.
I don’t need animal protein at every meal, but I love the taste of meat. The veggie substitutes are getting decent for tasting like mid-level ground pork and beef. Not better than a good butcher, but at least as good as any fast food ground meat product...
But... they’re all premium priced right now and I only buy them when the stores put them on markdown (often meaning they’re going out of rotation for the store for a long time so it’s best not to get too attached to a brand). I’m not spending six bucks for 12 oz of sausage when a pound of actual pork sausage is four bucks a pound and the nutrition stats are equivalent.
The worst part of it though for me is the packaging. So much virtue signaling and pleas for attention using political buzzwords. Desperate cries for attention. Someday soon Cargill or Smithfield is going to buy one of these small shops out and just anhiliate the rest of the market with a cleverly patented and trademarked name brand, mass-produced halfway decent ground meat flavored product. You only have to be as tasty as a McDonald’s burger to be a true meat substitute.
Its not Madness, maam, replied Mr. Bumble, after a few moments of deep meditation. Its Meat.
What? exclaimed Mrs. Sowerberry.
Meat, maam, meat, replied Bumble, with stern emphasis. Youve over-fed him, maam ...
Soy Boy Supremacist
Well that sounds very encouraging. Certainly President Trump must know this. Especially since the covid ordeal. Funny is that the TV has been playing the Soylent Green movie lately. Did you know that that movie is set in the year 2020? I wish I learned to hunt in my younger days.
In my dotage, I'm becoming more and more particular about the meat I dine on.
Dry-aged Johnstone beek - nice and marbled - is my current preference when it comes to beef. It's expensive, but since I eat beef only once a week, I regard it as affordable.
Regards,
you have to stop eating animals and start eating people - it solves population control and makes man have skin in the game for eating meat.
Eat or be eaten.
This whole post is sarcasm for those who miss it.
If you dont eat meat youre going to be more susceptible to disease and illness.
