Brits are a funny lot. They can be very socialists and still retain some semblance of common sense. It’s not in the United States.
Purely logical arguments don’t work on leftists. Heck, they don’t even work on everyone here at FR. What DOES work with this weak-minded people is social peer pressure. Once you convince them that it is uncool to think a certain way, they will change their opinion. How do we do that? Not sure with the older boomer hippy types, but with the younger generations, all you really have to do is point out to them how all their views line up exactly with the boomer establishment. For example, you associate socialism with old-ass Bernie Sanders.
Great point! Peer pressure is almost everything to the Democrats because they do march in lock step. Being ostracized is probably worse than death. Thanks, you got me to rethink this whole thing in terms of cool. For the longest time Democrats were the party of cool, but with socialism maybe there is a better chance. Just say to the kids you wanna look like that and show them a picture of Karl Marx.
