Sad to say Hipaa allows the release of personal medical information in a number of situations. One of those is they can communicate with family members, law enforcement, or others when the patient presents a serious and imminent threat of harm to self or others;

I realize this is written for the protection based upon mental health issues as written. But it will be used for any type of threat to the populous and will hold up in court. They won’t be able to separate danger from danger.
