If it’s just limited to deer, and the person doesn’t own their own hunting land or have a friend who does, then yes, I agree.

If a person is willing to go after less popular game meats, then they might be able to do it economically. Or if they have access to decent hunting spots. Even better if they’re able to trap. I’ve known a few people who lived off of squirrel meat, caught using rat traps, when they couldn’t afford to buy meat in the store.

My land has enough deer, rabbits, and groundhogs to feed a family for a long time. I haven’t hunted since before I bought the place, but I can totally see picking up the rifle again.
