They are just unwilling to face the ugly reality of the situation: that a Republican party they have voted for their whole lives prefers progressive Democrats and their polices to POTUS, MAGA and us.

***************

Absolutely true. The GOP is, in many respects, a fake party whose words say one thing but actions (or lack thereof) say another. I’m not content with letting this charade continue. My dream is to see Trump win a second term and immediately lay the foundation for a new party that actually represents us and fights for us.

You think of sour grapes. I’ll take a good wine instead.

And here is why.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. Busy weekend here and now you and I are likely the last two on this thread. It appears we may end up agreeing to disagree.

My reply to your points:
1) Fauci is widely regarded even by his peers as the nation's foremost infectious disease expert with proven major episode experience. Imagine Trump's position if it could be said he was not smart enough to avail himself of Fauci's expertise.

2) IMO, you overstate Fauci's "inside the wire" threat and choose to overlook Trump's ability to mangage professional relationships.

3) Imagine the volume Fauci would be giving the media if he was not included in such a national crisis.

4) He is an MD who graduated first in his class at Cornell and has been working at the very top of his profession for "35" years. He wasn't hired but rather was engaged as a consulting expert.

5) Quite right, although between the two of them she appears to have the lead.

6) Fauci always had the potential to do harm, but being in a prime position on Trump's team will make it more difficult to do so.

7) Fauci's contradictions and mixed messages work against Fauci and in IMO do not necessarily cast doubt on Trump or the rest of the team.

The use of a Management 101 model doesn't really apply in this instance because Fauci is not employee, he is an outside expert and Trump is free to give Fauci's opinions and recommendations the weight Trump deems appropriate. Fauci has little chance of undermining Trump.

You correctly note politics is all about power. In the case of Fauci, I believe Trump dealt himself a valuable political card.

You can have the last word. Cheers.

Just read your #81!

...a new party that actually represents us and fights for us.

In that regard, what do you think of Mike Pompeo? I think he is a natural if he can gather the R party together.

Lift any federal state of emergency is the last thing Trump can afford as each EO signed by Obama, the WOT, etc., give Trump dominion of the media, the military, economic production among other levers of power Hillary and Barrack hoped she would inherit. I would hate to have you giving advice to Trump as these matters are beyond your current comprehension.

Pompeo is a serious and capable person but I don’t see him being a candidate for president. I like the guy but he’s a little “stiff” and doesn’t have enough of the likability factor that people like to see in a candidate. He would be an excellent VP choice IMO.

Fauci has little chance of undermining Trump.

***********

Thanks for taking the time to respond, and providing your thoughts. I think our differing views on Fauci revolve around the above statement. In simple terms I see him as more of a threat than you do. And that’s OK. After all, different opinions make the world go around.

Briefly, my distrust of Fauci is based on two reasons. The first is my professional experience seeing the damage that disloyal people can do to a project and the careers of others. And second, I have worked in DC and, trust me on this, “lifer” bureaucrats are some of the sleaziest people in the Swamp. They will do anything to protect their comfortable sinecures and the agencies they work for.

There’s a saying in DC: “We were here when you arrived and we’ll be here after you’re gone.” That is the mindset Trump is dealing with. Never turn your back on these people.

That doesn’t necessarily make me right and you wrong, but it is based on actual experience. As I said previously, if you leave disloyal people in positions where they can undermine you, they certainly will. In a best case, they won’t be true team players. In the worst, they subvert you and the morale of your team.

A lot of management involves recognizing and controlling risks, and getting and motivating the best talent. Who needs problematic and self-serving people around them?

We will eventually learn more as we have yet to see the Fauci story play out.

Regards. :)
