It's not just progressives. I've been frustrated watching this as well. A great many college students didn't get a stimulus check because parents still claimed them but the parent got no extra money yet the students lost jobs and couldn't qualify for unemployment.
I've been fortunate enough to be able to help someone unrelated to me who fell through the virus safety net while his mother couldn't. But it isn't my responsibility and I can't replace that income forever. We all at a point of frustration right now.
This was a major miss in the first round.
College kids working are still eligible for unemployment if they arent really part time, just not the stimulus checks. But with an extra $600/wk, most people are still flush with cash. My parents are making 50% more not working right now, its just nuts. And my dad is dying to go back to work.
