Federal and state highways through the reservations belong to the taxpayers of that state and to the taxpayers of the United States. Again all ratepayers pay for the electrical power grid. The reservations lacking industrial and commercial entities pay a small proportion of the cost of electrical generation and transit. If they want to build a electrical power station on the reservation fine. If they want to partake in the infrastructure of the rest of the state then they must be partners and not close off access to the reservation. Can’t have it both ways.

I think we have to look at the law as it stands wrt current issues - not how we believe things ‘should’ be.

Anyway: if a dangerous disease broke out in a state contingent to your own, and your governor decided to shut down the highways where they enter yours from the diseased state: would you think that was ‘wrong’?

And if so, what’s the real difference between that, and our president restricting flights from China? It just seems the same on a smaller scale.

The US is a sovereign nation, despite our various economic entanglements with the rest of the world. The Indian reservations are sovereign states in their way, as well - just as all of our other 50 states are.

I don’t think this is a time to quibble over what amounts to relative pennies.
