Well, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. I’ve sure the drive probably involves lovely views.

I don’t know all of the laws governing these issues, but unless you can cite laws/treaties which prohibit the Indians from controlling state-highway access through their own lands in emergency situations, I guess they have the right to do this. They especially would seem to have the right if they believed that the health and safety of their people were in peril - just as your own state would.

I doubt that they are making a profit on this - more likely, they’re taking a big loss.

I think we have to look at the law as it stands wrt current issues - not how we believe things ‘should’ be.

Anyway: if a dangerous disease broke out in a state contingent to your own, and your governor decided to shut down the highways where they enter yours from the diseased state: would you think that was ‘wrong’?

And if so, what’s the real difference between that, and our president restricting flights from China? It just seems the same on a smaller scale.

The US is a sovereign nation, despite our various economic entanglements with the rest of the world. The Indian reservations are sovereign states in their way, as well - just as all of our other 50 states are.

I don’t think this is a time to quibble over what amounts to relative pennies.

Florida set up check points along its highways back in March. Passengers in vehicles from NY, NJ, and LA were required to fill out health forms attesting that they would self-quarantine for two weeks. It seemed most of the people on thise threads supported the governor’s decision.
