He goes on a brilliant tirade against FBI abuse, only to bail out at the last minute, in typical Trey Gowdy fashion. He absolutely killed it right until the end when Martha asks him if he thinks indictments are coming. “No ma’am” he answers in his best attempt at false humility. He “explains” that prosecutorial misconduct may be bad but that doesn’t mean it should be addressed with criminal indictments. The kindest spin I can offer for Gowdy is that he’s trying to “play it straight’, so that if/when he’s tapped by POTUS for some role in further prosecutions he can be presented as being impartial. I would like that to be true, but I have my doubts.
