A conservative friend said something the other day that I can't get off my mind:
"The DC establishment, the media, the 'smart people', would rather the country never end the shut-down and never open again."
He knew he was using hyperbole, but he meant it a hair's breadth from literal.
I've been unsettled and unsure of what I believe regarding the shut-down. But I'm not unsettled about what my friend said. I believe he's right.
I think freepers, conservatives in general, are using risk/reward analysis as the basis for their/our conclusions. But no one else is. This loud mass of voices--including those which spout off statistics and anecdotes and quotes from experts--has to be considered in light of the fact that these are people who hope the shutdown "never" ends. These are people who don't care about risk/reward analysis.

They must destroy Trump no matter what the cost to the nation. They don’t care about us, only about their power.
The left cannot win an honest election. There may come a point where we will have to ignore edicts of left wing totalitarian judges and “elected” officials like the b***h in Michigan or the coastal dodos Newsom and Cuomo. It may come to open civil war
If this guy’s words are the case, then why are they letting the governors decide when and how to open up?

Thats because they have money coming into their bank accounts, comfortable homes, and are still going out to socialize with each other

Most, if not all of the “DC establishment, the media [and] the ‘smart people’” simply loath Trump, and they have wanted to remove him from office since the day he was elected. He’s an outsider, and he threatens their safe, secure and protected world.
But thus far, they’ve failed. Two years of Mueller came up with nothing. So they were left w/hoping for impeachment and praying for a recession. But, the Kabuki theater production called impeachment came w/an acquittal already baked into the cake. And, until the Wuhan Virus arrived, it looked as though there wasn’t going to be a recession, either. In fact, just the opposite. Trump delivered a booming economy and historic levels of employment.
And then, out of Communist Chinese nowhere came the virus. NOW the ‘smart people’ have the ONLY thing that can defeat trump: an oncoming financial disaster unprecedented in modern times. All they have to do is keep everyone frightened and isolated. Put as many people out of work as possible, and call them irresponsible/old people haters/racists, etc. for not wanting to lose their jobs, their businesses or their dreams for their children.
It’s all about power. They’ll do whatever is necessary to get it, and they’ll pay any price to keep it.
It doesn’t matter. The stock market is way up. Should stay that way, I guess. Millions aren’t working, billions in revenue lost, but the market keeps going like nothing happened. Beats my four aces....

They’ve wanted socialism for decades now and they see this as the perfect opportunity to implement what would have taken years to do otherwise.
The elites hate freedom and liberty and do not want the masses to have it, even though they want it for themselves.
It’s all about power and control because some people just get off on ordering others around and controlling what they do.

Well they actually want to destroy the nation, which is why they need to get President Trump out of the way. He’s ruining their plans.
We were hit with a bioweapon with perfect timing to spread it world wide. Trump had/has medical/health advisors giving advice and presenting models that were totally too extremely high. Some of the democrat loving deep state are still giving falci information concerning medical treatment and lock down and predicting a major reoccurrence of covid in the fall and winter... just like he predicted Trumps administration would experience an infectious pandemic sometime during his tenure. This is a last ditch effort to gain power.... even at the expense of the world’s health and deaths. Just thinking out loud.... Ducks do have a characteristic walk.

In a true Socialist dream Utopian State— ALL work would be stratified and State controlled— including the actual HIRING of the work, either through cut-out organizations or “nationalized” companies as recent commenters have said needs to happen to US healthcare.
Obamaumaocare was and is about CONTROL of the population (including its numbers... its head count, birth count, whatever) dictated by mandated care “standards” that are designed to be “efficient” and ineffective. In order to KILL citizens in age groups— just like this virus.

If the economy suddenly starts recovering and the markets continue to rise the DC establishment will be absolutely apoplectic. The desperately want to take Trump down and the moment slipping away from them is driving them mad.

the middle class can do imcredible things. has enough power to do incredible things and defy tyrants
other places have elites, armed guards/forces, and the poor proletariat citizen classes, disarmed, no money, no chance for acquiring money and power
this is to destroy the middle class, decrease it greatly to wipe it out as best they can
and hopefully successfully blame their plan to do so on Trump, and give their puppet the white house
