Protest caravan takes over Las Vegas Strip calling on governor to reopen Nevada

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Hundreds of protestors in buses, cars, convertible and pickup trucks honked their horns, waved flags and held up signs saying they want Nevada back open now.

On Friday, a caravan of protestors drove the Las Vegas Strip calling on Governor Sisolak to re-open the state of Nevada.

"Protect those that are at risk and let the rest of us get back to the business of America," said Conservative radio host Wayne Allyn Root.

Root organized the protest comprised of small business owners and workers who are out of a job, and he believes Nevada can re-open safely right now.

"If you're afraid, stay home. If you're at risk, stay home. If you're a grandma or grandpa, stay home. And we’ll social distance, masks, gloves, proper protocol, whatever Costco is willing to do we're willing to do,” Root exclaimed.

Some vehicles participating in the caravan had Trump 2020 signs, others had American flags, we saw signs reading give me my freedom.

Some displays took it a bit further like a truck with a casket onboard and the words “Rest in Peace Nevada” written on it.

"This is the strangest wildest experiment in world history and you don't know that when it's over we're in a great depression and our economy is wrecked." Said Root.

He also says he understands why hot-spot areas like New York and Louisiana need to remain closed for the time being, but he says the Silver State doesn't fall in that category, and being closed is hurting more than it's helping.

I've seen the studies, in NY the latest study is out. 94% of those hospitalized are either very old or very sick with underlying health conditions. Why can't we let the people who are young and healthy go out and work and carry the economy?" Root asked.

When it comes to re-opening the state of Nevada Governor Sisolak is standing firm, he hasn't given a date as to when our state could re-open and he says it all depends on science and the virus.

Earlier this week, Las Vegas/Clark County had over 78% of the known cases of virus, and 84% of the deaths.

Doesn’t seem like a good place to ‘start opening the state’.

Further complicated by the usual visitors to LV are from all over the world—and who will be testing them before they are allowed to come into the city?

I do not know the standards Root is using for the term “Hot Spot”, but Las Vegas is certainly the HOT SPOT in Nevada.

17 counties & Clark County has 84% of the deaths.....

Most of this is being driven by the Culinary Union & SEIU. Ask yourself how many illegals are working in Las Vegas....

LV is built on vice and tourism. It is on life support. Just keeping the buildings running is a fantastic amount of money and there is none coming in. If they opened today I don’t know if it would save them.

the virus is HERE and it will be HERE for some time.....

stay home if you are vulnerable...

otherwise, we can not afford to have entire industries and all the millions of people that work for them bankrupt....

fearpers should send their covid checks to the unemployed and small businesses that have been devastated.....

Clark Count is about 75% of the population of NV.

“Doesn’t seem like a good place to ‘start opening the state’.”

The casinos support Las Vegas and the state. Ultimately that revenue is derived from tourists...50 million of them per year. From all over the world.

That will never come back no matter how much the loss is lamented.

All the small businesses in Las Vegas also depend on those 50 million tourists...and the financially healthy 2.7 million people that live there.

Remove all restrictions in Nevada and all US states, and all restrictions on international travel...and still they’ll never get close to 50 million annual visitors again.

It will be a legendary collapse and exodus.

Where will those 2.7 million people go? Who will buy the 600 thousand single family homes? Who will fund even the street lights?

Such pain and suffering awaits those people. It’s heartbreaking.

Right on! The city that is responsible for Nevada turning blue doesn’t want to lay in the bed they have made.

78% and 84% of almost nothing compared to the “models” made by the same kind of experts who bring us AGW.

This whole thing is SO overblown.

Nonetheless, our entire economy is BUSTED, and to twist one of the President’s favorite lines, the worst is yet to come.

Depends on where you look: Clark County 3,443, infected, 168 dead, population 2.2 million

We'll be fine. I just waited 3 hours to get a haircut. Businesses that open are going to be busy all day, every day for a while. Tourists will be back when they start opening hotels. The only biz not cleared to open today are bars, adult entertainment, theaters, and as Homer would say houses of "questionable ethics". Yes, property values will drop. Sh!t will suck for a quite a while, thanks to the dem politicians and union thugs, but Nevada will be back and soon.

Anyone know what percentage of Clark County’s fatalities occurred in nursing homes? The state and locals don’t appear to be making that info easy to find.
