‘HISTORIC MOMENT’: AT THE BEGINNING OF RAMADAN, ADHAN ECHOES IN MINNEAPOLIS’ CEDAR-RIVERSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD

Sahan Journal brings you reliable and authentic news about our newest Minnesotans

For the first time in the history of Minnesota, the adhan was broadcast Thursday evening over an outdoor speaker placed over the rooftop of Dar Al-Hijrah Mosque in Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis.

The call to prayer will be broadcast five times a day throughout the month of Ramadan, which began Thursday evening.

“This is a historic moment tonight for us to be celebrating the first call to prayer, adhan, in a major city in the United States,” said Sheikh Abdisalam Adam, board chairman of Islamic Civic Society of America & Dar Al-Hijrah Mosque.

Thanks to a new partnership between the city of Minneapolis, Dar Al-Hijrah Mosque and the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN), Muslims in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood can hear the adhan as they hunker down during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Tonight’s historic call to prayer in Minneapolis will bring comfort and remind the faithful and the neighborhood that as we are physically distant we can still be connected to our faith and mosque,” said CAIR-MN Executive Director Jaylani Hussein.

First Avenue provided technical support and audio equipment to make the call to prayer possible.

ABOUT SAHAN JOURNAL

Sahan Journal is the only independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit digital newsroom dedicated to providing authentic news reporting for and about immigrants and refugees in Minnesota.

Maybe they should send this to CNN

Journalists should:

– Take responsibility for the accuracy of their work. Verify information before releasing it. Use original sources whenever possible.

– Remember that neither speed nor format excuses inaccuracy.

– Provide context. Take special care not to misrepresent or oversimplify in promoting, previewing or summarizing a story.

– Gather, update and correct information throughout the life of a news story.

– Be cautious when making promises, but keep the promises they make.

– Identify sources clearly. The public is entitled to as much information as possible to judge the reliability and motivations of sources.

– Consider sources’ motives before promising anonymity. Reserve anonymity for sources who may face danger, retribution or other harm, and have information that cannot be obtained elsewhere. Explain why anonymity was granted.

– Diligently seek subjects of news coverage to allow them to respond to criticism or allegations of wrongdoing.

– Avoid undercover or other surreptitious methods of gathering information unless traditional, open methods will not yield information vital to the public.

– Be vigilant and courageous about holding those with power accountable. Give voice to the voiceless.

– Support the open and civil exchange of views, even views they find repugnant.

– Recognize a special obligation to serve as watchdogs over public affairs and government. Seek to ensure that the public’s business is conducted in the open, and that public records are open to all.

– Provide access to source material when it is relevant and appropriate.

– Boldly tell the story of the diversity and magnitude of the human experience. Seek sources whose voices we seldom hear.

– Avoid stereotyping. Journalists should examine the ways their values and experiences may shape their reporting.

– Label advocacy and commentary.

– Never deliberately distort facts or context, including visual information. Clearly label illustrations and re-enactments.

– Never plagiarize. Always attribute.

Unconscionable. A religion bent on destroying America by attacking the WTC and all that entailed are basically given a pass while Christians are mocked and ridiculed.

The libs tried that at Duke University (to have 5 times the “call to prayer” broadcast from speakers all over the campus, from the Duke Chapel (a Protestant Christian “non-denominational” denominational Chapel that is Methodist- the Duke family were and are Methodists). Announced it was going to happen.... and the alumni shut it down. Permanently, as in— “you won’t get a dime for the Foundation and any other support from alumni” (rich, super rich alumni, who are even libs, but they “get” this, big time).

The National Cathedral in DC apparently don’t get that “holding islamic services” to the islamofascists means the church is now OWNED by them. Just like the 9-11 attack provided the destruction of an Orthodox Church— which is now to be at Ground Zero-— a god-d....m.d mosque. The “conquered” NYC as a result. Not for long.

Muslims are shock troops of the left. One benefit is one day the muslims will rise up and kill their gay, atheist, lib overloads.

The Muslims of Minnesota will become just like the rest of America--non-Church goers.

Sundays will become days of golf, picnics, visiting, going to the beaches and parks. They will eschew their faith because they are SO fat and happy that they will believe, like many Americans, that they don't need God.

Empty churches BUT full parks, beaches, camping sites, golf courses, tennis courts, picnic spots, ski resorts, markets, vacation spots--etc.

Just an opinion.
