With draft beer sales virtually zeroed out thanks to the mandated closure of on-premise drinking due to the coronavirus pandemic, Charleston area brewers may soon have to dispose of full kegs of beer that have gone stale in distributors’ warehouses.

Mebbe some town can spare its water tank? But even so: did you ever read how Flint’s water crisis happened? It sounded like a slam-dunk: use the now-much-cleaner river water at a tiny, tiny fraction of the municipal water. They tested it, and it was absolutely safe. The problem was that the perfectly good water hit the outdated, should-have-been-replaced, slum-hole water pipes and picked up lead THERE.

The beer company probably figures the safety engineering needed to protect them from some unforeseeable problem simply isn’t worth it.
