The Most Unusual Musical Instruments of the World

Posted on 04/19/2020 6:48:47 PM PDT by Jamestown1630

If you're bored, here's a video about 'the most unusual musical instruments in the world'.

I'm a fan of Ben Franklin's Glass Armonica, and of the Hang; but I had never seen most of the others. (I'd really like to know what that fourth instrument is, after the Kalimba - it looks home-grown; and would like to have seen a didgeridoo and a steel drum.)

I certainly hope that you’ve been playing it in ‘combo’. Gets pretty routine and boring, otherwise.

Looks like a piece of metal tubing. Some good bottle neck for sure. Love to know what tuning he’s using,

This tune features a güiro, a percussion instrument made from gourds that sounds sort of like a musical washboard and comes from Central America. The song was a chart hit.

PDQ Bach had many unusual instruments. I like the pastaphone... from two pieces of uncooked manicotti

One of the things Moondog was known for was all the unique, custom musical instruments he built over his career.

Button Banjo - cross between sitar and electric guitar with auto harp like pitch stops with saxophone like keys/buttons with microtone pitch wobbling. Sufi music. https://youtu.be/fcyjzha6Fbg
