Bernie is playing good soldier by suspending his campaign and endorsing Biden. Except I think he is really just distancing himself from the disaster zone when Biden’s cognitive problems overtake him and the party begins casting around for another “Anybody but Bernie” candidate.

To take the Democrat Party as far to the Left as Sanders wants to take it, the mainstream/establishment grip on the party has to be destroyed. Unless Biden makes a dramatic turnaround, a Biden convention and general election campaign will put paid to any claim centerists have to party leadership.

If the Bernie Sanders camp is smart, they will push the process along by running far left independent candidates in “safe” Democratic districts. They will have no realistic possibility of winning but they could cause the defeat of mainstream Democrat representatives by siphoning off votes from the party incumbent. Since the liberal agenda is stalled at present due to a divided Congress and is likely to remain so mif the House passes back into Republican hands, might as well work on getting more “Woke” Leftists elected and increasing negotiating leverage.

I doubt Bernie would accept a late invitation to take up the race again if Biden bows out voluntarily or is forced out due to obvious incapacity. Democratic primary voters have shown they won’t support him.

For the record, I generally dislike Democrat professional politicians. But what’s being done to Biden just increases my dislike of the party. It’s criminal, even if he agrees to it.
