Seeking to avoid the bitter feelings that marred the 2016 Democratic convention, Joe Biden’s campaign is angling to allow Bernie Sanders to keep some of the delegates he would otherwise forfeit by dropping out of the presidential race.
Under a strict application of party rules, Sanders should lose about a third of the delegates he’s won in primaries and caucuses as the process moves ahead and states select the actual people who will attend the Democratic National Convention. The rules say those delegates should be Biden supporters, as he is the only candidate still actively seeking the party’s nomination.
Quiet talks between the two campaigns center on allowing Sanders to keep some of his delegates, essentially a goodwill gesture from a presumptive nominee seeking to court Sanders’ progressive supporters and unite the party. It is not yet settled how many. […]

they do want to win, after all
He hasn’t gone after Bernie’s delegates because he has nothing to offer them. Bernie’s bodies are completely socialist and Joe would like their vote but he doesn’t dare try for them, with what they want. It will alienate a large amount of the rest of his voters and he needs every one that can pull a handle or vote even from the grave to not look the complete idiot for the DNC in 2024.
Bernie’s bodies are too extreme to mix.

The only way to win is to get Trump to switch parties, and that sure won’t happen now.
Biden already got Bernie’s endorsement; why any need to “placate”?
1. Trying to keep the Bernie Bros on the reservation a little while longer.
2. Brokered convention. The DNC do not want Biden to win on the first ballot. The delegates are only required to vote for their candidate on the first ballot. After that, deals are made.
At least this was the plan. I expect Biden will be keeping a low profile over the next few months (would not be surprised if it was announce he contracted the virus).
The DNC want to keep him around until the convention.

The DNC politburo would love a Biden regime. He is too senile and retarded to much of anything like the old farts of the former Soviet Union. He will be a puppet and useful idiot.
