Keep in mind, on an average day in NY state, 425 people die every day, according to 2017 death records. Are we seeing incremental deaths or are these people with underlying conditions that may have been otherwise near their end point?

Staggering Surge Of NYers Dying In Their Homes Suggests City Is Undercounting Coronavirus Fatalities
Are we seeing incremental deaths or are these people with underlying conditions that may have been otherwise near their end point?
For example, it includes where hypertension is mild, under control, or has receded and is no longer evident even without further treatment? It includes previously undiagnosed conditions - though I’d hope they don’t include solely a presentation of high blood pressure at the hospital as indicative of a chronic problem, as there’s at least some reporting that suggests that COVID itself can cause the issue.
A pre-existing condition, as defined for this purpose, means anyone with anything whatsoever physically wrong, now or in the past, whether previously detected or undetected, impacting or non-impacting, treated or untreated.

Yeah....sure....325 EXTRA deaths/day (based on today’s and your average) are ALL underlying conditions...and, folks who were about to die, anyway.
Geez.
Flu deaths in NY State should have reached a little more than 1,000 based on tests given, and ratios for the past few years.
So, yeah...this is higher than the flu.
Of course during flu season, if you tested positive for the flu—your death is counted as flu whether it was the primary cause or not. I am merely pointing out that the same “standards” are being used for flu (which is not reportable, except in children) and /COVID—which is reportable.
Its all a guessing game until you can track a full year against last year’s deaths.

The only thing anyone is dying of at the moment is cv-19. It’s all the rage.
