Acting Secretary to the Navy Thomas Modly flew to Guam Monday and delivered a fiery speech to the sailors aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt after their captain was fired over a leaked letter pleading for those infected with the coronavirus.
The speech, a transcript of which was obtained by the Daily Caller, backs the decision to relieve Capt. Brett Crozier of his duties. Modly called the letter, which begged the Navy to send resources and help the at least 155 sailors on board who have the virus, a “betrayal of trust.”
“So think about that when you cheer the man off the ship who exposed you to that,” Modly added. “I understand you love the guy. It’s good that you love him. But you’re not required to love him.”
The acting Secretary to the Navy added that Crozier did not go through the proper channels. He repeatedly talked about breaking a “chain of command” and told the sailors that they should never go to the media for issues.
“And I’m gonna tell you something, all of you, there is never a situation where you should consider the media a part of your chain of command,” Modly said. “Because the media has an agenda and the agenda that they have depends on which side of the political aisle they sit, and I’m sorry that’s the way the country is now, but it’s the truth. And so they use it to divide us and use it to embarrass the Navy. They use it to embarrass you.”

There are a lot of Government people that needs to be relieved of duty. Like most of them.
If Crozier didn’t go through proper channels first...how did the Navy release a statement on the ship before the letters which got to the press?
Somebody is lying.
The answer to that question will tell you exactly who.
Has Crozier been offered a job at CNN yet?
Looks like the CO has left behind a legacy on leaking. I wonder if this will be investigated?
???????
When did the Navy release tge first statement on the ship?
What did the statement say?
My understanding he sent the email to 30 people. One of them leaked it to the press. I assume at least one of the thirty was in the navy and the navy immediately reacted. They just reacted faster than the press.
It would not shock me if, like Vindman, Crozier considered himself part of “The Resistance”.
That’s certainly an unexpected act. Why would a service secretary (who normally stay in the background publicly) fly halfway around the world during a pandemic outbreak to make a speech on a contaminated ship that is leaked to the press about not celebrating a former CO who was fired for leaking to the press? Something smells fishy, and it’s not just the bilge pumps.
“...And Im gonna tell you something, all of you, there is never a situation where you should consider the media a part of your chain of command, Modly said. Because the media has an agenda and the agenda that they have depends on which side of the political aisle they sit, and Im sorry thats the way the country is now, but its the truth. Wow.. this guy Modly is great... Got a brass pair on him, doesn’t he...
Once he’s out of quarantine maybe. Revealing the possible lack of readiness for the USS Roosevelt due to illness amongst the crew to the entire world is probably NOT a career enhancer.
Because the CinC is pissed off and wants this crap to stop. Now.
So great... some OTHER moron leaks to the media again
I am impressed that his speech was so direct and didn’t mince words.
They loved this guy because he was an incompetent boob who let them do what they want?
WHO PROMOTED HIM TO THAT POSITION?
He went through channels and heged his bet by going through the press too.
All you have to do is look at the photo of this “Captain”.
He ain’t after Tennille.
The Captain was a weak link and deserved to be removed. The emotional outburst was embarrassing. The guy shouldnt be in charge of a floating city.
Because like everything these days there is politics involved. The MSM immediately went into gear trying to portray the Navy in a bad light and the fired CO as a good man just looking out for the welfare of his people.
They have been featuring the cheering for the CO by the ship’s personnel everywhere.
The Navy needed to react quickly and make it clear why the guy was fired and to make it clear, especially to the ship’s personnel, why he was fired and deserved to be fired before the MSM successfully turned the guy into a hero.
Excellent speech. Thanks for the link.
If Crozier didnt go through proper channels first...how did the Navy release a statement on the ship before the letters which got to the press?
