Fauci’s not wrong that the information to date is largely anecdotal, and I think that the president was speaking to Fauci and his followers when he observed today that (paraphrasing here) “we don’t have time for the traditional studies, I want people to live. What do you have to lose.”
Which is of course correct, and which is why we can’t have the doctors be the last word in setting policy.

‘I don’t want to wait years, people are dying as we speak.
And a waiver is so the insurance companies, hospitals, doctors, don’t get embroiled in lawsuits.
There’s something called ‘right to try’; maybe someone has cancer or a terminal disease, and there’s a drug that could help... let them try it.
