Incredible that not one lawsuit has been filed anywhere on these unconstitutional lockdowns/power grabs.[Vanity]

Not that I've heard of, anyway. Are US Courts even open?

Is this supposed quarantine authority the executives around the country are using and abusing, unlimited in scope and length, not subject to revision by any court or legislature, ever?

When did we consent to that?

Quarantine, historically and legally, has been for sick people.

So I do think there is a good argument to be made.

The fear of course is that the courts would declare we can quarantine the healthy just in case whatever. But at this point what do we have to lose?

I wish a ton of lawsuits were being filed.

You may not agree with me but this is a public health crisis and not a political crisis which is why I believe no one is challenging this. Most people believe (rightly or wrongly) that at this moment stopping a public health crisis and people disregarding public health guidelines requires a gentle but firm hand. If everyone acted responsibly there would be no reason to impose any restrictions. Again, it's the idiots that ruin it for everyone.

If it becomes a political crisis beyond the life of the covid-19 then there will be problems.

We'll have to see what happens after this. Do we return to normal or do we have a "new" normal and what does that "new" normal entail?

I mean really. There is no longer a right to assemble, travel, religion, toilet paper, etc... got to be a class action in there somewhere.

Other innocents die and suffer too.

We’ve had sleepless FReepers telling of delayed knee and hip replacements. Upticks in suicide and violent crime. My neighbors upcoming surgery biopsy cancelled. My relatives oncology assessment delayed and changed to a video conference with no bloodwork or physical exam - and we have no concept of how to set up a videoconference.

I took a young lady in my cab who had her PT appointment after her severe auto accident but has had to other procedure indefinitely delayed. She is in pain.

It’s not like covid patients are the only potential deaths and sufferers. And I emphasize potential many are asymptomatic and its all projection.

So more are suffering seriously from the cure at this point than the disease and I say this very first hand.

Technically, diseased people are ISOLATED, not quarantined.

Quarantine is what is done with unknowns. Hold for a time, and if no disease, release.

On the lawsuit angle, there have been a few at least. Most on RKBA.

You’re right - every day in my State brings some new edict, and the ‘enforcement’ bullies for the State are gleefully just following orders.

No you could not declare an alien invasion. You are not POTUS, he could make such a declaration and it would have the effect of rule of law provided he involves a declaration of national emergency and then issues the subsequent declaration. We have a system of checks and balances congress is the check on emergency powers. You elected your representative that’s all the say you or any other citizen get. We are a representative republic our representatives are doing what we elected and pay them to do. The best data says this bug is a clear and present danger to this national and our leaders have acted on that intel. They get classified information that not a single person here who is not inside the beltway doing high level governmental duties has privy too. The other choice if people feel they are not being represented is revolt with arms by all means be the ones to raise arms against a government protecting it’s people from a known deadly pandemic the people will turn on those fools so fast the revolt would be over in hours not days. As someone who is subject to recall from the ready reserves I can assure you our military would put down such a revolt in a declared national emergency with deadly efficiency and without hesitation. Our constitutionally elected government is using the powers it has under the current situation to contain and mitigate millions of Americans deaths the military will do our duty to put down insurgency post haste.

Oh, wow. We really are all the way down that rabbit hole. Unlimited, unchecked power backed by a standing domestic Army. It’s <1776 all over again!

My Governor just declared that social visits are verbottem. As in, you cannot be around with anyone other than members of your immediate household. Indefinitively. Are you also okay with such nonsense?

Life, Liberty, Pursuit of Happiness.

Without #1, it’s hard to get to #2 and #3. They are in that order for a reason.
