It’s a fairly common drug that’s been around for decades.

About 40 years ago, when I worked in Africa, I used to take Chloroquine all the time because I kept getting malaria. The usual dosage to treat the malaria was 4 , 4 and then 2. Over the years I must have taken hundreds of Chloroquine tablets. It was cheap, plentiful and easily available even in Africa, which has the highest incidence of malaria.
For anyone to ban a drug that has been used by billions of people in developing countries for over 70 years, with all side effects already known, is unconscionable. But hey, the governor of Nevada, who knows sh*t about Chloroquine . apparently knows more about the use of Chloroquine more than the Prime Minister of India which has high incidence of malaria and has been using Chloroquine for decades. You cant make this stuff up.

“He’d much rather collapse the casinos in Vegas first. Overriding aim is “Beat Trump in November at all costs”

Don’t think even a Democrat could be that dumb. If not for the Vegas vote Rats couldn’t win a Dog catcher race in NV. Thanks to Vegas the last three Presidential Elections have gone to the Rats.

True, but its kinda like New York and California, no matter what the Dems do, they are confident they will still win, and they have done some pretty crazy stuff over the years. For example, I don't see any Republican winning the governorship of California for the foreseeable future despite the massive homelessness and all the crazy stuff they have pulled.

Hydroxychloroquine, if judged effective, would beat out more expensive (and profitable) drugs in the pipeline. Investors would not like that.

You may be right. Chloroquine has always been heap, even in Africa 40 years ago. And I am sure it’s gone generic long ago. It can be produced cheaply and quickly.

Can’t Trump legally override these idiots under “Right to Try” or “Compassionate Use?”

India is recommending malaria prophylaxis dosage for covid19 prophylaxis of at risk health care workers and family members of patients who have it. Which is a Sherlockian inference based on a dog, really in this case many dogs, that weren’t barking: the strikingly low rate of covid19 in all malaria prone, and thus routinely malaria prophylaxed, countries.

OK, that makes more sense. As long as the docs can also use it themselves if they’re infected, that doesn’t seem to be as much of a problem as it’s made out to be. I still think they should be able to use it as prophylaxis, however, maybe under strict guidelines to prevent hoarding, since they’re on the front lines.

No, they are not dumb, but the unions and illegals are already in the bag. All the other voters, on the fence, just have to hear the constant drumbeat that 'Orange Man Bad' and that the hydroxichloroquine was never a 'proven' remedy and voila', they vote Democrat.

In short, the Governor isn't stupid, but the electorate is.

It’s the call to throw him out of the party that bothers me the most about Trump’s statement.

Exactly

That might be a good idea, although especially with that, it is useful to have studies run, which won’t happen if everybody who could be exposed is taking it.

This malaria drug my be old and “cheap” but hardly a bargain GoodRX asks $75.00 for 30 500mg. tablets. The same quantity at 5 or 10 cents a 500mg tablet would be $1.50 to $3.00. Below are some recent links for high Vitamin C treatment.

Dr. Cathcart (see first link) has treated 9,000 patients with high C doses over 10 years. For a person with some medical knowledge, this link has useable details on how to treat at home with high Vitamin C doses, if hospital is not available. I have also found that when I used or gave to family high doses with fever, the fever would always drop 2 degrees in a half hour. Vitamin D has also been found helpful. I now take 2000 to 5000 IU of D depending on the season. This is in addition to the 3 to 6 grams of C I take daily for my allergies. You can also demand that the hospital treat you or your loved one with the intravenous form of C, and have your lawyer on call if they object.
http://www.doctoryourself.com/titration.html [Long and very detailed. If intravenous is not available, crush C and drink in water]

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04264533 [This official NIH site reports on the Chinese high Vitamin trial(s?) being run in China. A detailed explanation of other tests of high C that showed conflicted or confusing or weak results can be answered by reading the link above.]

https://nypost.com/2020/03/24/new-york-hospitals-treating-coronavirus-patients-with-vitamin-c/
[New York is the first area I have seen reported on that is now exploring the value of high Vitamin C in saving Covid-19 case lives. What they consider high dose may not come close to Dr. Cathcart’s experiences.]

It is cheap relative to just about any of the other drugs touted as "mainstream" treatments, and ENORMOUSLY cheaper than a hospital stay.
