If extraordinary times require extraordinary measures, and they do, then this is the time for the Democratic Party to nominate Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo for president.
Why?
First, because he is the only elected official in the United States today who has fully demonstrated the leadership, toughness, management skill and humanity that meeting the coronavirus pandemic demands. To be crudely political - and practical - he is the only Democrat who can absolutely beat President Donald Trump in November.

Yes, former Vice President Joe Biden is on his way to the nomination, and Sen. Bernie Sanders is hanging in as long as he can, pressing his policies and platform. But I believe neither of them will beat Trump. Biden's emergence earlier this week after utter silence was both embarrassing and disappointing. He didn't really have much to say, and he was unable to convey the urgency and clear-headedness the crisis demands. Sadly, he could not project the strength, resolve and capacity the country needs.

Can the Democratic Party nominate a candidate in its convention other than one who has come through the primary process? No one apparently knows for sure. But if a nominee is not chosen on a first ballot at the convention, primary-chosen delegates can be released and the convention can open up to other candidates.

You bring up an interesting point...if the convention is thrown into an open situation...I think most Bernie-supporters and half of the Joe-supporters would NOT go along with the scripted change. But they’ve angled themselves into a corner...they want a serious contender for President, to really oppose Trump (instead of just picking a good loser (Jeb-type)).
Biden will never pass the physical

Cuomo would go over like a lead balloon in flyover country USA. Run him!
Doesn’t believe in fracking or natural gas.
No base of support.
No campaign infrastructure.
Engaged in precisely zero hours of campaigning.
No platform.
Plus they would have to invalidate all of Biden’s votes and double-screw Sanders’s people.
McGavin999 has hit the nail on the head. NYC was in no way prepared for this....so why does this validate his candidacy for the U.S. President, how about all the people who went to cast votes, and stood in lines for a Caucus meeting. WE better get back to the RULE of law, and stop letting the main stream media pick our candidates.
CuoMOB comes across as the stereotypical New York loudmouth, and his NY accent is far more pronounced and thicker than even Trump’s. When people in the south and midwest hear him speak, and watch him lose it on occasion because he’s very thin skinned, they’ll be thinking of him as a character from the Sopranos or The Godfather.

Next, the dems will depose of Biden. Then, they will nominate and run these 2 liars/losers governors for Potus and Veep.
You folks are missing something from his press conference yesterday. He was talking to our women like B.J. did. They are better at it. Something about ‘my mother’. I didn’t need to hear it but the women do.
Cuomo’s simian good looks are obviously making a splash.
