Lettuce and leafy veggies seem to be the weak spot and bleach won’t help:

The other way around. RNA and especially DNA are almost always accurately copied, but on occasion not, else cancers and mutations would be the norm, not the exception. But in trillions of such copying attempts, errors are bound to happen.

Of course, as more testing and more types of testing (e.g., serum COVID-19) send the death rate into a continuing downward direction, it’s VERY understandable why you would do that.

Every time I look at leafy greens in the produce section these days, all I can think about is e-coli, especially since that “Don’t eat romaine from anywhere” thing.
Best to grow your own and they all do fine as a potted plant.
I grew some sort of greens a few years ago and it kept popping up for another two years on it’s own like a perennial. I had let some of it go to seed. It ended up being an area I mowed regularly and it still popped up. It was some kind of cross but I don’t think it was a hybrid. I’ll have to see if I can find my old seed packets and find out what it was.
