The Census is a Constitutional requirement. Argue amongst yourselves. Defenders of the Constitution go first.
I had no problem with filling it out.
I will say under “race” I answered “Indy 500” but otherwise I was legit.
I filled mine out online. Took 3 minutes. Pretty hard to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States....[and] bear true faith and allegiance to the same” while ignoring an explicit Constitutional requirement!
And old habits die hard. ;>)
And for that, they only need to ascertain the answer to one question, how many people live in your household.
True, but the only thing actually mandated is the census itself. That is, the only question for which an answer is actually required Constitutionally is How many people live at your place of residence? All other questions it asks have no Constitutional basis.
No argument regarding the number of people who live there (enumeration of the number of people in the US), but all other questions, especially the ACS survey, there is no language in the Constitution requiring you to tell them anything more. . .though congress made a law saying they have that right.
I had the same thought. Even here we often pick and choose which Constitutional principles we want to follow.
Will the Census count illegal aliens? If so, those who administer that census have abdicated their responsibility under the Constitution, and I feel no obligation to cooperate.
