1. Your first best defense against this virus is to wash your hands FREQUENTLY with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. The virus outer membrane cannot survive soap and water.

2. If you have access to any zinc products like Zicam or Airborne, use them. They will help beef up your system.

3. Disinfect surfaces like doorknobs, counters, handles on everything frequently using Lysol spray or Clorox wipes. These will help to a degree. Use straight rubbing alcohol on surfaces if you don’t have access to Lysol or bleach.

4. Self isolate. The fewer people you are around, the better your chances of not getting this. If you have to be around others, it’s ok to wear a cover on your face and gloves on your hands. Try not to touch your face.

5. If you are diagnosed with CoVid19, ask to be part of the study administering hydoxychloroquinine with azithromycin or one of the other protocols using a variant of the malaria drugs.

6. Take precautions, but don’t panic, and don’t worry. We can’t control everything around us, but let’s control our spaces as best as we can. Do not feed your fears.

7. I think you will be fine.

Lot’s of people here in the Bakersfield area have had Valley Fever without symptoms or knowing it. Some have had serious symptoms.

There's no houses in prison!

Well, just the one. After all, it is called the big house.

My wife and I are hunkered down, facetime now with kids and grandkids, instead of visiting. Haven't been able visit mom who is in a nursing facility an hour away. They aren't allowing anyone in.

Posting more on FR in an effort to share the latest news and information, including helpful information about prepping and getting through this.

Things still break and grounds still need to be kept up. Dog needs walking. Meals need to be prepared. Things need washing and cleaning. Doing PM and working in my small shop. Haven't really slowed down much, other than avoiding people and not going into town nearly as much.

Our annual beach vacation with all the kids and grand kids is cancelled. Daughter in another state may have the virus. Niece here may have it. Value of assets down at least $100k. But, wife, dog and I are all healthy and enjoying life one day at a time.

"I’ve killed and eaten my neighbors."

Well, that is humane. There is a movie somewhere where the dinner was kept alive by tourniqueting the limb before sawing it off. That way you don't need refrigeration...

I was prepared for this before it hit. I normally buy in bulk and shop for two weeks worth of food at a time. I refilled my prescriptions for three months (that's how we save money on our drug plan) and beyond that, I made sure I have plenty of ammo on hand "just in case."

I'm immune system repressed due to a genetic condition I have so my contact with others is very, very limited during all this. I was able to shop at my local grocery store during the early hours the other day as they were having "senior citizen and immune repressed" shopping hours. I was grateful for that. They were spraying everyone's hands with a bleach mix going into the store and again on the way out. Sanitary wipes were being used to wipe down grocery carts by employees as well.

I check on all my friends daily, my daily FB post asks if anyone needs help and is a "health and welfare" thread on my FB page daily.

I'm also lucky I've been working from home for over two weeks already. My employer, a large multi-national bank has a pandemic planning team that's been in place my entire 14 years at the bank. We went on "work from home only" shortly after this virus broke in China since we have offices there, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan. When it broke in Italy the entire bank, all 18,000+ employees globally went WFH. Luckily our remote computing systems all get tested for a bank-wide WFH annually and we've had very few issues.

The one thing that's impacting us is the dumbasses on the business side of the bank outsourced all IT Operations and Support three years ago to IBM, InfoSys and TCS. The Pune region in India is in lockdown so our helpdesk got impacted hard. The business folks want those of us who are left (primarily Systems Architects and Engineering) to cover the help desk for them.

Predictably, each and every one of us told them to go pound sand. They're getting what they wanted, off-shore support. Perhaps they'll rethink that very, very soon.

We were on the last ship to dock in Barcelona (Transatlantic cruise) and the last plane out of Barcelona before the Spanish government closed the country down. After visiting the grandkids on a trip to the UK that was planned months ago, we were on the last plane from Manchester to the US.

Yep, We are quarantined

Where we live in East King County Washington it often feels like you are visiting a foreign country when you go to Costco. My wife and I have both volunteered and been paid to work many times over the past few years at the Life Care Center in Kirkland where this virus caused the first deaths in this country. The Life Care Center in Kirkland offered a higher level of care than most other places and they had more medicare beds so they were packed to the gills with people who were very sick.

We are both in an age group that supposedly puts us at greater risk and we both have health issues that put us in this category as well. Our state is a "sanctuary state". We live near at least a hundred thousand new arrivals from China both legal and illegal. Tens of thousand of the legal residents went home for Chinese New Year and over ten thousand didn't make it back before the travel ban went into effect. Those poor unlucky souls had to fly into Vancouver International instead of SeaTac which caused at least a three hour delay to their schedule. There was no health screening for any of them.

This thing has been going around our community for over three months causing few fatalities except among those who would probably have died if they had caught any kind of flu or just the sniffles. The thing that our friends around here wonder about is not if they will get it, but if the minor flu or cold they have already had was actually the coronavirus. Most of our friends believe they have already had it. And whatever it was it didn't kill them.

Buck up and get your head together... your chances of getting killed on your way to the grocery store are much greater than your chances of dying from this flu like virus.

Told my daughter and son where bill info and passwords are to pay bills etc. Explained to husband about death benefit via work and he already knows about death insurance policies as we both have one with same company.

What I am struggling with is whether to stay the course with my retirement funds or pull them out. If I pull will get hit wit taxes but if I stay will continue to drop dollars in fund. I think I need to set a bottom line number on the accounts that I will pull. Just scary. i retired a year ago and this is nerve wracking. Not eligible for SS at this time.

Just lot to think about. Oh we did our will few years ago and son has key to deposit box and also knows combo to safe.

The Lord knows my time here on earth. Best I can do- doing my part to keep safe.

We are not sick, though I am in an extremely high-risk group. Due to Asthma/Respiratory allergies and believe it or not - Latent TB

We just have to prove we are not sick
