HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- At Hill Air Force Base, civil engineers and emergency response personnel at the installation are evaluating buildings for structural damage following the earthquake this morning.
No injuries have been reported.
Currently, no major building damage has been reported and personnel are being accounted for.
Several buildings were evacuated as a precaution after reports of possible natural gas leaks. As those buildings are being cleared by the base fire department, people are returning to work.
The air traffic control tower is operational, and there has been no damage to the flight line, aircraft or other assets.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
I hope the i15 is intact when I drive thru there tomorrow.
Wow. That is right next to Salt Lake City.
Maybe God has other plans. I’m not sure what we’re left with after COVID-19 is under control is going to be any fun. A major march towards socialism. Trump’s re-election chances significantly damaged. Investments and cash devalued, along with a huge bump in the national debt.
I live in the Ogden area and felt it just as I was getting out of bed this morning at 7:10. I haven’t heard any reports of I-15 being damaged. I’m teleworking for the next 2 weeks due to the virus. I went out at noon to pick up lunch (called in a to-go order, school age daughter and wife are home, too) and I didn’t see any road damage. Weirdly, there was a news helicopter circling a wide area of Ogden and Riverdale, no idea what that was about.
I felt a 4.6 aftershock about half an hour ago, there’s been about 30 aftershocks, nearly all of them 2.6-2.7 magnitude. There was a 4.4 this morning that got people unnerved again.
The epicenter was about a mile from the SLC airport, they reported structural damage in one concourse with a broken water line, all inbound flights were diverted, all outbound flights were grounded, and they closed the roads coming into the airport. The airport just reported to local news that the water line has been fixed, the damage isn’t a show-stopper, and they’re just starting up operation again now.
Thank you for the updated report. We have adult kids and their children in Syracuse & Hooper.
FOREHEAD thermometers.
Revelation.
Bless you and take care. I was in the ‘89 SFO quake. These things can be upsetting.
“Wow. That is right next to Salt Lake City.”
Personally, I think the Mormons tested a nuclear weapon.
Ok. Thanks.
Thanks, that’s a good link. About the only road damage is the road between Magna and I-80. There’s an exit closed off I-15 SLC, not sure what that’s about, you should be fine as long as you don’t try to get off there.
Thanks for the good wishes, right back at you. Things are pretty much normal now, the town of Magna is still picking up some pieces and finishing up bridge and building inspections. It’s still the talk of the town, though.
